PROGRAM DESCRIPTION WIC is a public health nutrition program designed to improve health outcomes and influence lifetime nutrition and health behaviors in a targeted, at-risk population. WIC serves low-income pregnant, breastfeeding and postpartum women, and infants and children up to age 5 who are at nutrition risk.
ELIGIBLE WIC PARTICIPANTS RECEIVE:
- Nutrition education (individual counseling and group classes).
- Breastfeeding promotion and support.
- Monthly vouchers for WIC authorized nutritious foods.
- Information and referrals to other NHCAC CAP and Health Centers. CAP Programs such as Immigration, Children First,
Head Start and Early Head Start, Emergency Food and Shelter, Job Placement, Mental Health, Tenant/Landlord Relations.

ELIGIBILITY General Requirements: Applicant must meet four criteria to be eligible for WIC
- Live in New Jersey
- Be a pregnant, breastfeeding or postpartum woman, an infant or child under 5 years old.
- Household income less than 185% of poverty guidelines.
