Seasonal Flu Vaccine at the Health Centers PDF Print E-mail

Every flu season brings new challenges to NHCAC. This year we will be conducting a school-based H1N1 Inoculation Program for all schools and licensed child-care facilities for the municipalities we cover under public health. September 16, 2009 is the kick off date for the seasonal influenza vaccination for health center patients and any community members who wish to seek vaccination for the SEASONAL INFLUENZA VACCINE ONLY. We plan to run these clinics through April 30, 2010 unless other wise indicated.

Attached, please find the Patient Assessment and Consent Form. You can access the VIS’s straight from the CDC at www.cdc.gov. The cost for self pay patients remains the same as last year, Twenty Dollars ($20.00)/flu vaccine and Thirty Five Dollars ($35.00) for Pneumococcal vaccine. Medicaid and Medicare recipients are free and a copy of the insurance most be attached to the consent form. For NHCAC patients with private insurance/HMO kindly encourage them to make an appointment.

Janet Roder, has been extremetely cooperative to ensure the ordering and stock of supplies we anticipate to use. She will distribute the flu vaccines to your sites as indicated. Please ensure that you plan to request all supplies to run your program (e.g., syringes, gloves, alcohol swabs, gauzes, etc).

Attached, also find the Health Center Schedule for the open to the public flu clinics. The schedule has been posted on the NJHDSS website and will be posted as well on the NHCAC web to enhance community access, education and advertisement. Human Resources will be working with us to ensure those employees who have not received the vaccination get the opportunity to accept the vaccination.

My staff and I are here to help you through the process, you may contact me at (201) 538-3504 with any questions and/or concerns.

Thank you,
Anny
