HEPATITIS A & B VACCINES
The Health Centers of West New York, Union City and Hackensack have been approved to receive free hepatitis A and B immunizations from the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services-Vaccine Preventable Disease Program. These vaccines are available for adults 19 years of age and older, without insurance or underinsured for a minimum administrative fee of $7.00/per dose. The goals of this program are to provide preventive immunization to populations at risk for disease, help build prophylaxis immunity against disease, and make the vaccines available to adults who otherwise could not afford the high cost of such vaccines. Patient visiting our other health center locations can be referred by health care provider for appropriate immunizations to the participating sites. Please speak to our health care providers today, to see how you can benefit from receiving these vaccines.

Twinrix:
(Hepatitis A & B)
Is a combination vaccine against hepatitis A and hepatitis B. It contains inactivated hepatitis A virus and an inactivated extract of the hepatitis B virus. The vaccine works by provoking the body's immune response to these viruses, without causing the diseases. This vaccine is recommended for people one year old and older, especially those at increased risk of infection with the hepatitis A and hepatitis B virus. These include but are not restricted to: health care professionals, patients and patient contacts in certain hospital clinics (e.g., dialysis, cancer), sewage workers, daycare employees, military personnel people travelling to areas where hepatitis A and hepatitis B are common, people who have multiple sexual partners, people who use illicit inject able drugs, people working or living in institutions.

Engerix-B:
(Hepatitis B)
Is a hepatitis B vaccine that works by exposing you to a small amount of the virus, which causes the body to develop immunity to the disease. Engerix-B will not treat an active infection that has already developed in the body. This is vaccine recommended for all adults and children who are at risk of getting hepatitis B risk factors include: having more than one sex partner in 6 months; engaging in sexual behaviors that can put your at risk, having sexual contact with infected people; having cirrhosis or chronic hepatitis C; using intravenous (IV) drugs; being on dialysis or receiving blood transfusions; working in healthcare or public safety and being exposed to infected blood or body fluids; being in the military or traveling to high-risk areas; and living with a person who has chronic.
